A Courtesy Visit by Bangladesh Ambassador

  H.E. Mr. Mohammed Abdul Hye, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Bangkok along with Mr. Md. Masumur Rahaman, Counsellor were welcomed to Kasetsart University. On 19 October 2021 in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University. Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University along with Assistant Professor Dr. Kampanat Pensupar, Vice President for International Affairs; Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak Tayjasanant, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Assistant Professor Dr. Naroon Waramit, Vice Dean of School of Integrated Science; Assistant Professor Dr. Janejira Duangjit, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture; Dr. Kritsadapan Palakit, Lecturer at Faculty of Forestry; Miss Buntharika Trikomut, Representative from KU Extension and Training Office; and personnel of International Affairs Division welcomed the guests on an official visit to Kasetsart University to strengthen relations and to discuss  mutual cooperation and exchange in a variety of academic fields.

  Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University delivered a welcome speech and presented a brief introduction of Kasetsart University which depicted the significant number of students and the expertise in the agricultural related field of studies as a pioneer of agricultural university in Thailand. Kasetsart University also has international academic cooperation with more than 300 leading universities and institutions around the world. On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Abdul Hye, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand, expressed his gratitude and pointed out the importance of building a network of academic cooperation between the two countries. Kasetsart University is excellent in agricultural research and has an international reputation. Therefore, there is interest in having cooperation with Thailand especially a cooperation at the higher education level.

  The purpose of today’s discussion is to discuss the creation of joint academic cooperation between higher education institutions, and organizations in Bangladesh and Kasetsart University in a variety of fields that both sides have mutual interest, such as agriculture, agro-industry, economics, engineering, architecture, etc. and exchange ideas on other potential fields of cooperation such as human resource development in various fields through training courses, seminars, visiting works, exchange of professors and students, joint research and scholarships, were also discussed. The meeting then discussed and exchanged ideas on various issues which could be further developed into new forms of activities and cooperation with institutions in Bangladesh through coordination from the embassy. Both sides are keen to see progress in collaboration between Bangladesh and Kasetsart University in the near future. In addition, Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University is delighted to offer two scholarships program for students from Bangladesh to pursuing graduate courses at Kasetsart University, more details will be further discussed. Later on, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Abdul Hye and his delegation had visited the Cannabis Laboratory, Smart Agriculture and Smart Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture.

  Kasetsart University has academic cooperation with Bangladesh by focusing on academic cooperation in the fields of training or visiting work for human resource development that Kasetsart University has potential such as “Training on Environmental and Social Management” for The Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board by KU Extension and Training Office, a visiting from the Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh at the Institute of Food Research and Product Development (IFRPD) Kasetsart University., and a meeting between the Executives Board from the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh with Assistant Professor Dr. Nuchanata Mungkung, Vice President for Finance and Asset Management under the program “Overseeing the Overseas Training in Thailand”. In addition, in 2021 there are 2 exchange students from Bangladesh studying at Kasetsart University, Miss Nousin Aki, Bachelor degree level, Faculty of Agriculture (Tropical Agriculture) and Miss Bibi Khadiza, Master degree level, Faculty of Business Administration (Kasetsart International MBA Program – KIMBA).
