According to the UI Green Metric World University Ranking 2021 on 14 December 2021, Kasetsart University was ranked no.1 Green University in Thailand and no.45 Green University in the world from 956 universities participated. The assessment consists of 6 parts as Setting & Infrastructure, Energy & Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education & Research which KU got 8,225 points overall.

Furthermore, Dr. Damrong SRIPRARAM, Vice President for Administration elaborated that Kasetsart University has joined UI Green Metric since 2011 along with 6 universities from Thailand and remain no.1 ever since. Accordingly, Kasetsart University also established the VGREEN or the Center of Strategic Eco-Friendly Business, which operated under the Faculty of Environment and verified by the National Accreditation Council (NAC), to be the first organization in Thailand for greenhouse gas inspection.

In this sense, Dr. Chongrak WACHRINRAT, President of Kasetsart University issued a policy to preserve green areas and begin to use alternative eco-friendly energy sources within the university such as the change from gas to electricity bus, the Floating Solar that generates solar energy for the Faculty of Fisheries, etc., with the aims to improve the livelihood of all student, personnel, and the community.
