A Special Lecture by Expert from University of Nottingham
On 2 May 2018, at 9.00 a.m., at room 406 on the 4th floor of the Sukpracha Vajanon Building, Faculty of Sciences, Kasetsart University, Associate Professor Dr. Arinthip THAMCHAIPENET, Vice dean of Research and International Affairs along with Dr. Suporn METHAPATRAKORN, Department of Biochemistry and graduate students; welcomed Assistant Professor Dr. Lisa CONEYWORTH, School of Biosciences, University of Nottingham; on the occasion of visiting Kasetsart University.
The purpose of the visit was to give a special lecture entitled “Feeding the world 2050” which focusing on the situation and crisis of crop and food in the future. Furthermore, Assistant Professor Dr. Lisa CONEYWORTH raised the topic of food security, food quality and nutrition, the impact of climate change, and the dynamic of population that will affect the world’s food in near future and also mentioned the increasing of food waste which roughly 1.3 billion ton / year or 1/3 of world’s food production.
Assistant Professor Dr. Lisa CONEYWORTH further talked about the need of Food Sciences and Biochemistry personnel in the near future such as Nutritionist, Environment Science, Food Science, etc. that will take a crucial part in this kind of situation. And also gave an information about the Food Sciences and Biochemistry relate curriculum which University of Nottingham has to offer.
