KU Administrators visited Souphanouvong University

   On 3rd March 2018, Associate Professor Dr. Vichai CHANHSAVANG, Acting President of Souphanouvong University along with university personnel, welcomed the delegation from Kasetsart University led by Associate Professor Dr. Viroch IMPITHUKSA, 28th Chairman of Kasetsart University Council and Associate Professor Dr. Siree CHAISERI, Acting Vice President for Research along with university administrators and lecturers; on the occasion of visiting to Souphanouvong University for strengthening the academic collaboration. Associate Professor Dr. Viroch IMPITHUKSA gave a brief history of the collaboration between Kasetsart University and Souphanouvong University, which started in 2011, in term of exchange program, workshop, curriculum development and scholarship.

   Associate Professor Dr. Vichai CHANHSAVANG gave some information about Laos’s educational system and academic activities within Souphanouvong University, and indicated that Souphanouvong University has continually received lots of support from various organization, namely Republic of Korea, China, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), etc. Nowadays, Souphanouvong University has roughly 4,000 students in 6 Faculty (27 curriculums) and about 30 personnel studying aboard, but still seeking a support in term of logistic, electricity and environmental science.

      In term of research, Souphanouvong University receives a support from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and participated in an international publication. Furthermore, Souphanouvong Uinversity collaborate with Confucius Institute and Korean Institute to provide both Chinese and Korean language course for student, and also has signed memorandum of understanding with roughly 40 other organization around the globe. Associate Professor Dr. Siree CHAISERI, Acting Vice President for Research, Kasetsart University finalized discussions that both universities already in collaboration with each other in many aspects, such as Staff Mobility, Joint Lab Experiment, Workshop, etc. In term of scholarship, Kasetsart University willing to provide a student exchange program in various sciences, such as Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, Hotel and Tourism management, Public Health, Agriculture, etc., and also have many scholarship for the master degree. Kasetsart University is also willing to help with the curriculum planning and any other academic activities as requested. The event ended with souvenir exchange and a group photo session at Prince Souphanouvong Statue that portray the close relationship and firm collaboration between both universities through times.
